Checking The Component
- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Set the switch to the ON position
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Check the current running through sensors A and B in the switch.
When the switch is in the ON position, the current level in sensor A must be in the range of 1.6-6.4 mA and the current level in sensor B must be in the range of 12.8-20.1 mA.
Use the VCT2000 (or appropriate scan tool) to read off the current level.
Replace the switch if any of the current levels are outside the listed ranges.
- Switch off the ignition. Wait 10 seconds
- Set the switch to the OFF position
- Switch on the ignition. Wait 10 seconds.
Check the current running through sensors A and B in the switch.
When the switch is in the OFF position, the current level in sensor A must be in the range of 12.8-20.1 mA and the current level in sensor B must be in the range of 1.6-6.4 mA.
Use the VCT2000 (or appropriate scan tool) to read off the current level.
Replace the switch if any of the current levels are outside the listed ranges.
Erase the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) if fault is not found.
