Install The Left Drive Shaft

Ensure that the pulse wheel for the ABS sensor on the drive shaft is clean.

Press in the drive shaft firmly so that the snap ring engages in its groove in the differential gear. Carefully pull the drive shaft constant velocity joint to check that the drive shaft is secure.

CAUTION: Ensure that the seal ring in the transmission and the boot on the drive shaft are not damaged.

Fold out and twist the spring strut. Locate the drive shaft in the hub.

CAUTION: Apply metallic adhesive 1161370-0 on the drive shaft splines for the hub as illustrated.

Use an adjustable wrench to hold the control arm down.

Install a new drive shaft nut. Tighten the nut by hand.

CAUTION: Lubricate the threads and flange on the nut.

Reinstall On Both Sides:

The control arm on the ball joint. Use new nuts.

CAUTION: Ensure that the mating surfaces on the ball joint and control arm are clean and free from grease.

Working from the inside and then outwards, tighten the nuts to 18 Nm + 120° . Use bevel protractor 9512050 .

Rust protect the area between the ball joint, control arm and nuts thoroughly. Use plenty of the rustproofing agent. Use rustproofing agent P/N 1161432-8.

The link on the anti-roll bar. Use new nuts. Tighten to 50 Nm .
