Checking the mechanical transmission cable

Check the mechanical transmission cable function as follows.

Disconnect the mechanical transmission cables from the transmission
Check that the cables run smoothly.
NOTE: The mechanical transmission cable that transfers longitudinal travel (secured directly in the gear selector lever) should be slightly stiffer in its sleeve than the other cable
Check cable routing
Check that the lever moves freely in all gears.

If the mechanical transmission cable is stiff or incorrectly installed replace it.
