Checking Cables
Check the control module and the damper motor connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact Resistance And Oxidation .
Check signal cable between MCC control module #B13 and damper motor terminal 3 for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults , and a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults .
Check ground lead between MCC control module #B11 and damper terminal 1 for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults .
Check cable for power supply between MCC control module #B12 and damper motor terminal 2 for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults .
If cables are OK, try a new air distribution damper motor.
Remedy as necessary.
Other information:
- To disconnect the control module, see Replacing Or Adjusting Control Cables/Mechanical Rear Section And Control Panel/Front Section (Manual Climate Control/STANDARD) .
- To access/replace the air distribution damper motor, refer to Replacing Damper Motor Air Distribution .
- To connect the breakout box, see Connection Of Breakout Box MCC .
- Voltage on signal cable varies between approximately 0-5 V depending on damper motor position. Damper motor power supply should be approximately 5 V. For other values, see Signal Descriptions MCC .
