Checking ECC Vehicle Speed Signal Programming

NOTE: In order for the ECC control module to function correctly, the vehicle speed signal must be programmed. From and including production week 832, the electronic climate control system (ECC) control module has been updated with a new function allowing the vehicle speed signal from the combined instrument panel to be programmed. This is because the functionality of the combined instrument panel has been modified. Previously the combined instrument panel had two output vehicle speed signals, one 12-pulse and one 48-pulse signal. The ECC control module was connected to the 48-pulse signal. The new combined instrument panel will only have a 12-pulse vehicle speed signal. Therefore the ECC control module is connected to this 12-pulse signal. The new ECC control module replace the earlier version and can be installed in both older and newer cars. In order to ensure the correct functionality, the new ECC control module must be programmed for the correct type of vehicle speed signal. The new combined instrument panel has the text "Max" instead of a number at the maximum fuel level mark in the level gauge.

For older combined instrument panels, the ECC control module must be programmed for 48-pulses .

For new combined instrument panels, the ECC control module must be programmed for 12-pulses .

Use the "Programming" function to read off and program the ECC control module.
Read off the current programming. Make a note of the value. Program in the correct version.
