Checking the Glow Phase, Phase 3, Continued

These are the alternatives for a defective glow phase function:

  1. The heater is silent, the glow plug does not glow and neither the water pump or blower fan operate. Refer to Checking the Fuel Pump Circuit (Including The Overheat Protection Thermostat) .
  2. The heater is silent for 10 seconds, then the glow plug, combustion fan, water pump and blower fan operate. Refer to Checking For An Open-Circuit Or Short-Circuit .
  3. The heater ceases to operate completely at some point during the glow phase.
  4. The glow plug does not glow. Refer to Checking Glow Plugs .
  5. The water pump does not start. Refer to Checking the Water Pump .
  6. The blower fan does not start. Refer to Checking the Blower Fan .
