Checking the Cooling Down Phase, Phase 6

When the water in the heat exchanger in the heater has warmed up, the operating thermostat will open (at approximately 90°C). The fuel pump stops operating immediately.

The combustion fan runs an airing-out cycle for 102 seconds. When the temperature has fallen to approximately 60°C the thermostat closes and the heater reinitiates the glow phase (phase 3).

The following alternatives are available:

  1. The heater stops at approximately 90°C and starts at approximately 60°C. Refer to Checking Airing-Out .
  2. The operating thermostat does not open. The heater will then continue to operate until the overheating protection circuit is triggered or the timer breaks the circuit. Refer to Verify .
  3. The operating thermostat opens and closes at too low a temperature, so the car feels cold. Refer to Verify .
