Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Condition
The air distribution damper motor contains a potentiometer which indicates the position of the damper to the control module. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECC-221 is stored if the control module detects that the signal from the potentiometer is too low.
Substitute Value
The control module adopts a substitute value corresponding to 100% defrost.
Possible Source
- Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable.
- Open-circuit or short-circuit to ground in the potentiometer power supply.
- Defective damper motor.
Fault symptom[s]
- The orange indicator LED in the REC and air conditioning (A/C) buttons flashes for approximately 20 seconds.
