Checking Connectors

Ignition off.
Corrective action to remedy outside temperature sensor and control module connectors for contact resistance and oxidation according to Contact Resistance And Oxidation .
Check any damage etc.
To remove the control module, refer to Replacing ECC Control Module .
To access the outside temperature sensor, see Replacing Outside Temperature Sensor (Electronic Climate Control) .
Reinstall components, reconnect connectors etc.
Disconnect the Volvo Scan Tool (ST) from the VIDA station. Use it in stand alone mode and connect it to the data link connector (DLC) in the car.
Ignition on.
Go into scrolling values.
Read off outside temperature.
Check the outside temperature reading is correct. Compare with the actual air temperature.

If temperature reading is now OK this indicates that the fault was caused by in poor contact in the connectors.

Is the temperature reading OK?

YES
OKAY: Troubleshooting has been completed.
NO
