IMM-214 Communication from engine control module (ECM)

Condition

HINT: The MIN code is a model specific code which will prevent prohibited changes to other engine management systems and is sent during the communication phase (the first two seconds at the start) between the immobilizer control module and the engine control module (ECM).

Each time the immobilizer control module and engine control module (ECM) communicate, the immobilizer control module checks if the engine control module (ECM) data contains the wrong MIN code. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) IMM-214 is stored in case of faulty MIN code.

The diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is erased when the counter value reaches 254.

Possible Source

Incorrect type of engine control module (ECM).
Faulty initiation of immobilizer control module. (The immobilizer control module is programmed for another engine control module (ECM) than that being used.)

Fault symptom[s]

Engine starts but stops immediately.
