General Decontamination Instructions

When the airbag is deployed powder is spread throughout the car. The chemical reaction that creates the gas can also produce certain by-products such as calcium chloride - a harmless salt.

When handling the powder:

Use the following protective equipment when decontaminating a car with a deployed airbag:

Gloves
Protective goggles
Overalls
Face mask.

Long term exposure to the powder (without the above protection) can cause the following symptoms:

Eye contact:	Symptoms Corrective action	Burning/Grittiness Flush immediately using water for at least 15 minutes. See a doctor if the symptoms persist.
Skin contact:	Symptoms Corrective action	Burning sensation Wash using a mild soap solution and water.
In open wounds:	Symptoms Corrective action	Wounds may be aggravated. Always avoid exposure. Clean carefully.
In the hair:	Corrective action	Wash and rinse thoroughly.
