Reading And Erasing Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
The control module can store 10 diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) simultaneously. They are stored using the "first in, first out" principle.
When reading off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), the instrument displays the last stored diagnostic trouble code (DTC) first , then the second last etc.
The following is displayed in the display window (see illustration):
| No=00 | Shows the order in which the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are stored in the control module. For example, "01" is the last stored DTC, "02" is the second last stored DTC and "09" is the first stored DTC in the control module. |
| Code: 32 | This is a two figure DTC number . |
| WATER PUMP S-C | Is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) text . This text is always in English. |

Press the START button. This initiates diagnostic trouble code (DTC) reading off and takes approximately 3 seconds. During this time the control module P/N and instrument ID will be displayed. For information about the P/N and instrument ID see the section below.
The test instrument scrolls through the DTCs one after the other. If no diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored the code " 00 NO ERRORS".

In the event of communication problems the following text will be displayed "COM PROBLEM" and "TRY AGAIN". Try to read off the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) again. If this is still not successful, check:
- that the test instrument is fault free and that it is properly connected
- that the heater has started or tried to start
- the power supply and ground to the heater control module is OK
