Cleaning and inspection

Clean the brake pad contact surfaces in brake caliper.
Check the piston dirt guard.
If the dirt guard looks worn, replace it as a precautionary measure.
If the dirt guard is damaged, overhaul the brake caliper. Brake caliper rear, overhaul , Service Information, Brakes (incl. ABS and TRACS), 1992-, or Service Information, Brakes (incl. ABS and TRACS), 1996-.
Press back the pistons with a pipe wrench or tool 9992809 . Take care not to damage the dirt guard.
Check that dirt guard is in position properly.
