Activating Components/Functions

Activate Volvo Scan Tool (ST) Components/Functions by pressing the YES/NO button to start and stop activation.

| 4 | SOLENOID STH | System pressure solenoid STH "clicking sound" in transmission. The solenoid only clicks twice, when stopping and when starting. So listen carefully. |

| 6* | IDLE COMP P/N | Constant idle speed compensation P/N position, to the engine control module (ECM). Engine changes engine idling speed. |
| 7**) | MIL REQUEST | Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) request. Connect a voltmeter between #20 (#A20) and #45 (#B15). When the function is activated the voltmeter will give a reading that fluctuates between 0 V and battery voltage. (No actual malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) request occurs.) |

Use a stethoscope to listen for solenoid clicks.
NOTE:
On cars with turbochargers (TC) and/or OBD II: When activating function 7 and 9, no change/symptom is indicated for the engine, transmission or combined instrument. To check these functions proceed as follows before activation is initiated:
- Ignition off.
- Connect the Test box
- Connect a voltmeter to the terminals as above. Check the voltmeter reading when function is activated.
