Transmission Cable, Replacing: Removal

Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing 

See Remove the air cleaner (ACL) housing .

Remove the left front wheel 

Remove the center console 

See Removing the center console .

Remove the transmission cable from the bracket and from the lever on the transmission

Remove: 

• the catch on the lever
• the cable from the bracket. Ensure that the cable does not crack or break.

Disconnect the cable from the gear selector assembly

Remove: 

• the catch for the cable on the gear selector
• the cable from the end of the gear selector assembly
• the cable.

Remove the cable at the firewall

Remove: 

• the two nuts for the transmission cable grommet at the firewall
• the mechanical cable by pulling it inwards into the passenger compartment.

HINT: Route the cable correctly in the engine compartment with someone to assist you.
