Changing Oil: Preparations

The oil should be changed only in the following instances:

When the on-board diagnostic system (OBD system) has recorded that oil temperature is too high (diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 2-3-5).
When the oil smells burnt, is discolored and no diagnostic trouble code (DTC) is stored. For example due to hard and intensive use.
On cars used in continuous taxi service and or used to haul a trailer or caravan for most of its mileage, the oil should be changed at a service interval of 75,000 km.

WARNING: The oil may be very hot if the car has just been driven. Avoid skin contact.
