Removing power brake booster

Remove:
- locking clip to power brake booster pushrod.
- the four nuts holding the power brake booster to the firewall.
- power brake booster.
NOTE:
Note the seal between the power brake booster and firewall.
NOTE:
Check car chassis number.
- USA/Canada 4-door up to chassis no. 60654.
- USA/Canada 5-door up to chassis no. 258.
- Europe 4-door up to chassis no. 76400.
- Europe 5-door up to chassis no. 2800.
In cars with chassis number lower than above:
- Check that power brake booster pushrod seat in master cylinder (see illustration) has not stuck to end of power brake booster pushrod.
- If seat has stuck, replace master cylinder. Do not put seat back into master cylinder.
In cars with chassis number higher than above:
- Seats are not supplied as a separate replacement part. This applies to all master cylinders as replacement parts.
