Front Wheel Bearing/Hub, Replacement: Preparation

Remove 

• the wheel.
• the ABS sensor.

  Disconnect the ABS-sensor's cable from the spring strut.

Remove the brake caliper's both attaching screws.

Hang up the brake caliper, suitably in the spring strut.

Remove the screw that holds the drive shaft. Counterhold the brake disc with a screwdriver.

Remove 

• the brake disc's guide pin.
• the brake disc.

Tap in the drive shaft end in the hub approx. 10-15 mm. Use a brass drift.

Remove the anti-roll bar's upper link from the spring strut.

Remove the steering joint from the wheel spindle. Use Puller 9995259 .

Blow clean with compressed air around the ball joint.

Spray liberally with rust solvent on the ball joint as well as on the screw and nut that hold the ball joint.

If the screw is rusted on, loosen the nut a few revolutions and tap loose the screw.

Remove the nut and screw.

Spray again with rust solvent on the ball joint.

Tap loose the ball joint from the wheel spindle.

Use a sleeve as a spacer.

Spray again with rust solvent on the ball joint.

Move the ball joint up and down by hand (or with a pry bar) until the ball joint comes off the wheel spindle.

Install the protective sleeve 9995562 on the ball joint.

Fixate the link arm in depressed position with tool 9995563 .

Remove the drive shaft from the hub.

Turn the spring strut half a turn and "lock" it by placing the guide arm on the link arm.

Hang up the drive shaft in the spring strut.
