Replacing the Heat Exchanger: Removal

Work in the engine compartment

Clamp the heating hoses. Use lock grip pliers 1158957 .

Work in the passenger compartment

Remove the soundproofing panel on the left and right-hand sides. See The left-hand side soundproofing panel and The right-hand side soundproofing panel
Remove left and right-hand side carpet mountings
Remove the RTI or amplifier bracket if applicable
Remove the knee bolster if applicable.

Detach the drain hose and push it to one side
Remove the screws on left and right-hand sides of the cover for the heat exchanger
Remove the screw for the pipe flange for the heat exchanger.
NOTE: Place plenty of absorbent paper under and around the pipe flange.
Remove the heat exchanger and its cover
Remove the heat exchanger the cover.
