Upper Control Arm: Installation

CAUTION: Correct torque and crosswise tightening of wheel lug nuts are essential to avoid stresses in brake disc.
NOTE: If impact wrench is used on wheel lug nuts, torque socket (951 2834), or equivalent, must be used.
  1. Install upper control arm on body and trailing arm. Hand tighten bolts. Tighten control arm-to-body side to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Install wheel. Tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  3. Remove support under lower control arm. Bounce vehicle a few times. Tighten control arm-to-trailing arm bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Fig 1.
  4. Check wheel alignment. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES - UP TO EARLY PRODUCTION 2004 article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT. Adjust as necessary.
