Upper Control Arm: Installation
CAUTION:
Correct torque and crosswise tightening of wheel lug nuts are essential to avoid stresses in brake disc.
NOTE:
If impact wrench is used on wheel lug nuts, torque socket (951 2834), or equivalent, must be used.
- Install upper control arm on body and trailing arm. Hand tighten bolts. Tighten control arm-to-body side to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install wheel. Tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove support under lower control arm. Bounce vehicle a few times. Tighten control arm-to-trailing arm bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . See Fig 1.
- Check wheel alignment. See SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES - UP TO EARLY PRODUCTION 2004 article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT. Adjust as necessary.
