Checking the signal cable

The ohmmeter should read infinite resistance.

Check the cable between engine cooling fan (FC) relay base terminal #2 and engine control module (ECM) connector terminal #8. Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-circuit to ground, permanent faults .

Remedy as necessary.
