Anti-Roll Bar Front, Replacing: Removal: Preparation
- Install lifting tools 9995716 and lifting hooks 9995460 .
- Lift the engine to relieve the load on the engine pads.
Raise the car.
Remove
- the front wheels
- the splash guard under the engine
- the four nuts and screws holding the steering gear in the sub-frame
- nut (A), holding the collision protection lower half. (Applies to right-hand drive cars).
- the collision protection system over the steering gear (2 screws). (Applies to right-hand drive cars).
- the screws holding the exhaust pipe bracket. Disconnect the brake pipe from the snap fasteners on the bracket
- the bracket.
Remove the oil pipe from the clamps for the steering gear. If applicable remove the clamps from the fuel line for the engine block heater.
Remove the hose for the EVAP canister in the joint by pulling apart the hose.
- Remove the bracket for the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) from the sub-frame (does not apply to diesel cars).
- Remove the rear engine mounting screw.
- Position a mobile jack with universal plate 9995972 at the rear of the sub-frame.
- Remove the screws holding the sub-frame brackets to the bodywork on both sides
- Remove the rear sub-frame screws together with the brackets and washers
- Loosen the sub-frame's front screws by 10-15 mm .
- Lower the rear edge of the sub-frame approximately 90 mm . Ensure that the steering gear screws are released from the sub-frame.
NOTE:
Hang the steering gear from hook
9995045
so that the lower steering shaft does not come apart. On right-hand drive cars, the hook must be hung from the right side.
