Expansion valve, replacing: Removal

First read Before starting work on the expansion valve
Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing
Drain the refrigerant from the system. See Refrigerant, draining
Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 5 cylinder engines Replacing cross stay/upper torque rod
Remove the engine stabilizer brace in the engine compartment. For 6 cylinder engines Replacing cross stay/upper torque rod

Open:

the clamp for the refrigerant pipe on the side member.

Remove the refrigerant pipes from the expansion valve. Pull the holder back slightly
Detach the pipes from the expansion valve. Carefully move the pipes out of the way.

Remove the screws holding the expansion valve
Remove the expansion valve.
