Cleaning and checking

Flushing pipes and hoses

Remove the oil pipe with the hose from the gearbox.

Flush the pipe and hose using Dexron III ATF oil.

Install the oil pipe on the new gearbox.

Install a new O-ring on the quick-release connector.

Removing the upper hose connector from the oil cooler

Removing the lower hose connector from the oil cooler

Install a hose (1) in the oil cooler (2).

Collect the oil in a container.

Flushing the oil cooler

Pour oil into the funnel and allow the oil to flush through the oil cooler.

Installing the upper and lower oil pipes for the oil cooler

Checking the carrier plate

Check that the carrier plate is not damaged or cracked. To replace the carrier plate, see Replacing the carrier plate .

Check that: 

Checking / replacing the torque converter

Ensure that the mating surfaces on the torque converter cover are clean.

Apply a light coating of grease to the torque converter guide studs and in the holes for the guide bushings on the torque converter cover.

Ensure that the torque converter is as far into the gearbox as possible.

Check with a ruler that the distance between the cover and mounting lugs is approximately 14 mm  .
