Removing The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Control Valve

Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe from the intake manifold. Start with the cover.

Remove the plastic hoses between the turbocharger (TC) / charge air cooler and the air cleaner (ACL) / turbocharger (TC). Place them to one side and seal the openings.

Remove the clamp for the intake manifold at the turbocharger (TC) for cylinders 1, 2 and 3. Detach the upper section of the pipe by turning it towards the firewall.

Remove

the upper timing belt cover.
Disconnect the control valve connector.

NOTE:

Clean the area around the variable valve timing (VVT) valve thoroughly to avoid contaminated oil entering the ducts / the variable valve timing (VVT) valve.

the control valve and the gasket.
