Removing The Cylinder Head / Gasket: Preparation

To simplify the text below, the terms turbo 1 and turbo 2 are used. Turbo 1 stands for the turbocharger (TC) for cylinders 1, 2 and 3. Turbo 2 stands for the turbocharger (TC) for cylinders 4, 5 and 6.
Remove
- the battery negative lead. First read Battery, disconnecting .
- the radiator breather tube by the expansion tank. Install lock grip pliers
- the right-hand drive shaft. See Drive shaft right, replacing .
- the bearing seat for the drive shaft from the cylinder block
- the pipe screw for the turbocharger oil pressure pipe by the cylinder block.
Disconnect the connectors for the heated oxygen sensors (HO2S). Remove the wiring from the clips and tie straps.
Remove
- the screw for the mounting for the torque rod on the engine
- the engine stabilizer brace between the suspension turrets
- the plastic charge air pipe
- the plastic intake pipe
- the pipe screws for the coolant pipes
- the upper coolant pipe
- the pipe screws for the oil pressure pipe
- turbocharger 1 only: The clamp for the vacuum pipe in the turbocharger (TC).
