Phone module (PHM), replacing

Removing the phone module (PHM)

Deactivate the phone module (PHM) by removing the reserve battery. See Reserve battery Volvo On Call, replacing .

NOTE: Only car phone module with Volvo On Call has a spare battery.

Remove the radio and carphone. See Radio cassette player, replacing (For -2004) and Audio unit, replacing (For 2005-)

Press in the catches at the top and bottom edges of the car phone.

Disconnect the connectors. Remove the car phone (3).

Installing the phone module (PHM)

Install: 

CAUTION: Ensure that the keypad snaps into the radio and frame.
NOTE: After replacing the phone module (PHM), new software must be ordered and the unit programmed.

Without  Volvo On Call:

With  Volvo On Call:

Activating Volvo On Call when replacing the phone module (PHM) 

  1. After the software is downloaded to the car, "" will appear in the display
  2. Drive the car out. In order for activation to function, the vehicle must be outdoors in an open area.
    NOTE: Activation should now be completed within 20 minutes
  3. When the system has determined the position "Confirm by pressing ON CALL" will be displayed
  4. Press the ON CALL button for at least two seconds to make an initial call to the Volvo On Call center. Volvo On Call customer service confirms the position of the car and the name of the dealership
  5. The Volvo On Call system remains deactivated if the connection does not succeed within 20 minutes. The software must be downloaded again and a new attempt to activate the system, with the vehicle outdoors, must be made
  6. When the car is collected ensure that the customer presses ON CALL for at least two seconds to dial up the Volvo On Call Centre for the second time. The Volvo On Call customer services confirms to the customer that the subscription is active and asks for a personal password (at least six characters)
  7. Volvo On Call is now ready for use.
