Checking the battery

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2006 Volvo S80, 2005 Volvo S80, 2004 Volvo S80, 2003 Volvo S80, and 2002 Volvo S80. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Ensure that the battery is fully charged and in good condition upon delivery. The battery must be checked every other month prior to delivery  according to Fault-tracing and testing the battery .

If necessary, charge the battery according to Battery, charging

A maintenance scheme for batteries will be supplied with new cars from the factory. There is a decal on the inside of the windshield. This decal indicates when the battery was checked and approved at the factory. The decal also gives the months when the battery should be checked and the maintenance schedule filled in. Everyone who is responsible for the car during transport and storage, before it is sold to the customer, is responsible for filling in the maintenance schedule.

The battery must be checked before the end of the month listed. It must also be checked a final time a few days before delivery to the customer. The decal must be removed when the car is delivered. The maintenance schedule must be filed with the dealership for the duration of the car warranty. Check that the chassis number of the car is included on the maintenance schedule before removing it from the car for filing.

In the event of a manufacturing fault in the battery, the maintenance schedule must be sent with the complaint to Volvo Car Technical Service, Volvo Car Corporation.

The text is in English only.

The maintenance schedule is in the glove compartment when the car is delivered from the factory.

Fill in the maintenance schedule as follows:

  1. Fill in the date and signature
  2. Fill in the voltage that was read off
  3. Fill in if the battery is charged or replaced

Put the maintenance schedule back in the glove compartment.

NOTE: While in transit and similar, there may be occasions when the car is not accessible for battery checks during the check month. In such cases, the battery check must be carried out as soon as the car is accessible again.

After delivery, the maintenance schedule must be filed at the dealership for the duration of the car warranty.

Decals for S70/V70 and S40/V40 models

There are two types of decal for these car models. The decals are two colored. This means that the car battery must be checked every other month.
