Occupant Weight Sensor (OWS), Checking: Check: Notes

Any leakage from the occupant weight sensor (OWS) can be detected by a visual check of the passenger seat and surrounding area. Sticky transparent stains in the area may indicate silicon leakage.

Leakage can also be detected when handling the passenger seat.

The SRS (supplemental restraint system) indicator lamp in the combined instrument panel is activated when approximately 30% of the silicon has leaked out of the pressure sensor/cushion. The capacity is approximately 500 g silicon.
