Checking the ignition spark: Notes

• Ignition off
• Remove an ignition coil. Leave the wiring in place
• Install a new spark plug in the ignition coil. Place it against the engine
• Ignition on.
  CAUTION:

  Never activate a ignition coil which is installed on the engine. Engine damage may be caused if there is a fuel in the cylinder.

  Check carefully that only the dismounted coil is activated. The cylinder order is calculated from the camshaft gears.

  Activate the relevant ignition coil.

Is there a spark? 

• YES 

  Refer to Verification 

• NO 

  FAULT NOT FOUND:  Troubleshooting has been completed.
