Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Information

Condition

• Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-6400 (camshaft intake) or ECM-6410 (camshaft exhaust) is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers that the signal from the camshaft reset valve is too low or missing.

Substitute Value 

• Shutting off the variable camshaft.

Possible Source 

• Contact resistance in the terminals
• Open-circuit in the signal cable
• Short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
• Short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable (open-circuit in the fuse)
• Open-circuit in the voltage supply cable
• Defective camshaft reset valve.

Fault symptom[s] 

• Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
• The engine does not start (open-circuit in the fuse).
