LPG Safety

Information LPG = Liquefied Petroleum Gas 

The combustion point of LPG in air at 20°C is between 1 volume % and 15 volume %. The density of the fuel in proportion to air is 1.8. This means that the LPG which escapes into the air sinks. There is a risk of explosions if LPG leaks out. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is stored in the car as a liquid.

Sulphur has been added to the Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) so that it smells.

The integral system safety consists of: 

• A safety valve in the tank. This valve releases the fuel at 27 bar
• All fuel tank units are positioned outside the passenger compartment - either in the engine compartment or under the car. This is classified as an external installation
• A solenoid valve which immediately closes off all gas supply if the engine stops
• The gasoline system is available as a reserve if the gas (CNG or LPG) fuel system does not function or runs out of gas.
