Installing the propeller shaft

Install the propeller shaft using the marking made earlier. See For Cars With A Vibration Damper On The Active on Demand Coupling Flange .

Check carefully that the mating surfaces on the propeller shaft and flange are clean.

Use new screws when installing the propeller shaft. First tighten the screws that are opposite each other acc. to Summary Of Tightening Torques For Specific Components . Then tighten all screws crosswise acc. to Summary Of Tightening Torques For Specific Components . Use counterhold 9997057 .

Install: 

• the 4 x M8 screws for the support for the center bearing on the car body. Tighten
• the 2 x M8 screws for the propeller shaft center bearing. Tighten.

For cars with a vibration damper on the Active on Demand Coupling flange 

Use counterhold 9512940 .

Install: 

• the 4 x M8 screws for the support for the center bearing on the car body. Tighten
• the 2 x M8 screws for the propeller shaft center bearing. Tighten.
