Checking the Component
Ensure that the audio module is fault free by checking that there is sound from the driver's side speaker when, for example, radio mode is selected on the audio equipment.
Change the volume by selecting "change volume" in the RTI menus.
HINT: If there is no sound from the driver's side speaker, the fault is in the audio equipment. Fault-trace the audio equipment instead.
Is there sound coming from the driver's side speaker?
- YES

- NO
FAULT NOT FOUND: Troubleshooting has been completed.
Check the cable between the RTI control module terminal and the audio unit terminal #E8 . Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. See Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults . Check for a short-circuit to ground. See Short-Circuit To Ground, Permanent Faults . Check for an open-circuit. See Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults .
Remedy as necessary.
