Checking the Component

Ensure that the audio module is fault free by checking that there is sound from the driver's side speaker when, for example, radio-mode is selected on the audio equipment.

Change the volume by selecting "change volume" in the RTI menus.

HINT: If there is no sound from the driver's side speaker, the fault is in the audio equipment. Fault-trace the audio equipment instead.

Is there sound coming from the driver's side speaker?

Check the cable between the RTI control module terminal and the audio unit terminal #E8  . Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults . Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-Circuit To Ground, Permanent Faults . Check for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults .

Remedy as necessary.
