Checking the Component
Ensure that TMC is transmitted in the relevant area.
HINT: Check the system settings to ensure that traffic information is not deselected.
Check that connector H is correctly connected. On cars in Japan, connector I must also be checked.
Check the cable between the RTI control module terminal #H1 and the TMC/FM multiplex (center pin) antenna amplifier terminal #1 (located at the bumper). Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults . Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-Circuit To Ground, Permanent Faults . Check for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults .
Cars in Japan: Check the cable between the RTI control module terminal #I1 and the FM multiplex (located in the rear windshield) antenna amplifier terminal #1. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage according to Short-Circuit To Supply Voltage. Permanent Faults . Check for a short-circuit to ground according to Short-Circuit To Ground, Permanent Faults . Check for an open-circuit according to Open-Circuit, Permanent Faults .
Check the three connectors on the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier.
Check the power supply to the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier from the radio by taking readings between the center pin on the TMC/FM multiplex amplifier and ground. The value should be approximately 10 V. If it is not approximately 10 V, fault trace according to the symptom "bad radio reception".
Remedy as necessary.
