Air-leaks: in the intake system, checking: Removal
Preparations
Check that all hoses are undamaged. Check that all hoses are in place with their hose clips tightened.
Connect the test pressurization equipment
Remove:
- the hose clamp (2) between the mass air flow (MAF) sensor and the intake manifold for the turbocharger (TC)
- the screws for the intake manifold. Fold the pipe up. Connect tool 9995545 and pressure regulator 9995544 to the intake manifold. Tighten the hose clamp.
Check
Remove the oil filler cap. Connect the compressed air hose. Adjust the regulator to obtain a maximum pressure of 0.3 bar .
There may be a gentle hissing sound from the oil filler opening. This is due to the opening of an intake valve and the leakage of cylinder pressure past the piston rings. If a leak is suspected, spray a soap solution onto the area. Remedy any leakage.
