Checking The Engine Coolant Temperature

NOTE: The test cannot be started if the engine coolant temperature (ECT) is below 158°F (70°C).
  1. Start the engine. Read off the engine coolant temperature. If the engine coolant temperature is below 158°F (70°C), allow the engine to reach operating temperature or cancel the test. Is the temperature above 158°F (70°C)? If yes, see FUEL EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM (EVAP) under THEORY & OPERATION - C70, S70 & V70 TURBO & S80 article. If no, testing is complete.
