Installation - Rear Seal

  1. Using Drift (999 5450), install new greased rear seal. See Figure. Seal is normally positioned at the same level as the internal beveled edge. If the shaft journal is showing signs of wear, the seal can be pressed in 0.079" (2 mm) deeper by turning the Drift (999 5450) socket.
  2. Install camshaft position sensor trigger wheel. Tighten to specification. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS - 2.3L & 2.4L, 5-CYLINDER article. Install camshaft position sensor housing and a new cover. Tighten the camshaft housing to specification.
  3. Install the torque rod bracket and the upper torque rod. Tighten to specification. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS - 2.3L & 2.4L, 5-CYLINDER article.
  4. Install ignition coil cover. Tighten bolts to specification. See ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS - 2.3L & 2.4L, 5-CYLINDER article.
  5. Install air cleaner cover and intake air hose.
  6. Install the solenoid valves on the air cleaner cover.
