Checking the gas level sensor signal

• Ignition on.

  Read off the gas level.

  Check to see if the fault is permanent or intermittent by reading off the gas level (derived from the gas level sensor signal) in the fuel tank.

  If the read off volume exceeds 4 liters (approximately 0.88 UK gallons) the gas level sensor is functioning. The fault has previously existed but is now intermittent.

  If the read off volume is 4 liters (approximately 0.88 UK gallons) and the gas tank is not empty, then the fault is permanent.

  NOTE: If the gas tank is empty even though a volume of 4 liters (approximately 0.88 UK gallons) is then shown which makes it difficult to determine whether the fault is permanent or not.
