Park/neutral position (PNP) switch and ignition switch lock
Park/neutral position (PNP) switch and ignition switch lock are two safety systems which operate independently of each other.
The shiftlock is an electro- mechanical system which operates with the gear selector assembly solenoid (1).
The keylock is an active, completely mechanical system which is connected to the ignition switch interlock cable (9) between the gear selector assembly and ignition switch.
To be able to move the gear selector lever from position P , the ignition key must be in the ignition position and the brake pedal must be depressed (shiftlock).
In order to be able to remove the ignition key from the lock cylinder the gear selector lever must be in the P position (ignition switch lock).
