DTC CI-222: Speed Signal Faulty

  1. This DTC will set if instrument cluster registers an input speed signal that exceeds 2000 Hz (175 MPH).
  2. Speedometer may read too high or give full output. Cruise control will shut down and set a DTC. To correct this problem, turn ignition on. Read instrument panel DTCs. If DTC CI-121 is stored, repair that DTC first. If DTC CI-121 is not stored, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, perform status check. Test drive vehicle. Go into scrolling values and read vehicle speed. If vehicle speed is within permitted range, problem is intermittent. Retest system. If vehicle speed is not within permitted range, go to next step.
  4. Check instrument cluster and ABS control module connectors for loose connections. Check Blue wire between instrument cluster connector terminal A3 and ABS control module terminal No. 6. If problem was found in connections or Blue wire, retest system after repairs. If problem was not found in connections or Blue wire, check for interference from electric motors, ignition wires or cell phone wires and reroute as necessary.
