DTC 141: EBD/Pressure Sensor Signal - Circuit Fault

- If fault is intermittent, go to step 8). If fault is permanent, turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS control module. Connect breakout box. Connect ohmmeter between breakout box pins No. 5 and 7. Start engine so vacuum is built up in brake servo. Turn engine off. Press brake pedal hard. If ohmmeter reads about zero ohms with pedal released and infinite resistance with pedal depressed, go to step 6). If ohmmeter does not read as indicated, go to next step.
- Disconnect EBD pressure sensor 2-pin connector located on EBD pressure sensor. EBD pressure sensor is screwed into master cylinder. Connect ohmmeter between EBD pressure sensor 2-pin connector terminals. Start engine so vacuum is built up in brake servo. Turn engine off. Press brake pedal hard. If ohmmeter reads about zero ohms with pedal released and infinite resistance with pedal depressed, go to next step. If ohmmeter does not read as indicated, replace EBD pressure sensor.
- Connect ohmmeter between EBD sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Violet/White wire) and breakout box pin No. 5. If ohmmeter reads zero ohms, go to next step. If ohmmeter does not read zero ohms, check Violet/White wire between ABS control module terminal No. 5 and EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 1 for an open circuit. Repair as necessary.
- Connect ohmmeter between EBD sensor connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Violet wire) and breakout box pin No. 7. If ohmmeter reads zero ohms, go to next step. If ohmmeter does not read zero ohms, check Yellow/Violet wire between EBD pressure sensor and control module terminal No. 7 for an open circuit. Repair as necessary.
- Connect ohmmeter between breakout box pins No. 7 and 5. If ohmmeter reads infinite resistance, DTC is caused by poor contact in EBD pressure sensor connector. Repair as necessary. If ohmmeter does not read infinite resistance, check for a short circuit to ground in Violet/White wire between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 1 and control module terminal No. 5, and Yellow/Violet wire between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 2 and control module terminal No. 7.
- Ensure ignition is off. Reconnect ABS control module. Turn ignition on. Release brake pedal. Connect voltmeter between breakout box pins No. 5 and 8. If voltmeter reads about 5-6 volts, check for poor contact at control module connector. Repair as necessary, then go to next step. If voltmeter reads more than about 5-6 volts, check for short to voltage in Violet/White wire between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 1 and control module terminal No. 5, and Yellow/Violet wire between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 2 and control module terminal No. 7. Repair as necessary, then go to next step. If voltmeter reads less than 5-6 volts, check for short to ground in wiring between EBD pressure sensor connector terminal No. 1 and control module terminal No. 5, and between EBD pressure sensor connector terminal No. 2 and control module terminal No. 7. Repair as necessary, then go to next step.
- Check wiring for a short to voltage between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 1 and ABS control module terminal No. 5, and between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 2 and ABS control module terminal No. 7. Repair as necessary.
- Check ABS control module and EBD pressure sensor contacts for poor terminal contact. Repair as necessary. Check wiring for an intermittent short to voltage or ground between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 1 and ABS control module terminal No. 5, and between EBD pressure sensor terminal No. 2 and ABS control module terminal No. 7. Repair as necessary.
