Section 2 (Engine Controls - Tests W/Codes - Non-Turbo (A/T) - MOTRONIC 4.4): Introduction
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Volvo 850. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Non-turbo 850 (Federal A/T) models use the Motronic 4.3 control system. California and Federal applies to installed emission equipment, which may be verified by underhood Emission Control label. California emissions may be available in other states such as Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.
If no faults were found while performing BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES, proceed with SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no fault codes or only pass codes are present, proceed to TROUBLE SHOOTING NO CODES article for diagnosis by symptom (i.e., ROUGH IDLE, NO START, etc.).
NOTE:
All voltage tests should be performed using a Digital Volt-Ohmmeter (DVOM) with a minimum 10-megohm input impedance, unless specifically stated otherwise in testing procedures.
