Fuel Gauge Sending Unit

CAUTION: If fuel tank is more than half full, drain tank before removing sending unit.
  1. Remove sending unit from tank. Connect an ohmmeter across fuel gauge sending unit leads. Move float up and down while checking resistance.
  2. On 240, 740, 760 and 780 models, refer to the appropriate FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCES  chart. On all models, resistance should vary smoothly as float is moved. See Figure .
