Shock Absorber: Removal
- Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheels. Separate tie rod end from steering knuckle. Place floor jack under control arm. Remove sway bar link and brake line bracket.
- Remove upper shock absorber cover. Loosen shock absorber nut a few turns while holding center of strut rod with Holder (5037). Mark position of upper mount to maintain wheel alignment. See Fig 1.
- Lower floor jack. Guide strut out of strut tower. Attach spring compressor. Remove nut and lift off upper mount, spring retainer, and bumper. Unscrew shock absorber retaining nut using Holder (5036). Hold shock with Holder (5037). Pull out shock absorber.
