Parking Brake Shoes: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace brake drum (rotor) if out-of-round exceeds .008" (.2 mm).
  2. Apply a thin coat of heat-resistant graphite grease to brake shoe sliding surfaces and to adjusting starwheel. After installation, adjust parking brake.


  1. Smear thin layer of heat resistant graphite grease on brake shoe lining surfaces. Assemble brake shoes. Using new bolts, install rear return spring, brake disc and caliper.
  2. Ensure that disc rotates without touching brake pads. Install wheels. Adjust parking brake cable. Lower vehicle.
