Removal & Installation: Crankshaft

NOTE: Apply light coat of engine oil on main bearing cap bolts prior to installation.
  1. Two different manufacturers supply the main bearings. Ensure main bearings are supplied by same manufacturer as designated by the markings on the outside of the bearings. Arrow on top of main bearing cap should be installed toward front of engine and in numerical sequence according to cap number stamped near the arrow.
  2. Connecting rod bearings are color coded. Assembly No. 1 contains Yellow color code and assembly No. 2 contains one Blue and one Red color code (Blue in connecting rod and Red in rod cap). Only Yellow color code are kept in stock for replacement. Ensure piston is installed with notch toward front of engine and number on connecting rod is toward oil filter side of engine.
