Valve Stem Installed Height

NOTE: Valve stem installed height must be checked when installing valves to ensure sufficient clearance exists for valve adjustment.
  1. Install Valve Stem Height Gauge (5222) in camshaft bearing bores of cylinder head. Press valve against valve seat with finger pressure. Move measuring ring of valve stem height gauge over valve stem.
  2. Valve stem must be shortened if it contacts the measuring ring. Maximum grinding limit from valve stem is .02" (.5 mm). Remove valve stem height gauge.
