Tie Rod, Removing And Installing: Removing

The following information describes the removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle as an example.

-- Refer to Wheel, Removing .

-- Clean the steering gear and outer tie rod in the area of the boot using a cleaning cloth.

-- Remove the tie rod end. Refer to Tie Rod End, Removing and Installing  .

-- Open the clamp -3- for the boot -2- on the steering gear -1-.

-- Turn the steering as follows:

Conditions

• For the left tie rod, turn the steering to the left until stop.
• For the right tie rod, turn the steering to the right until stop.

-- Remove the boot from the steering gear -2- and slide outward -arrow-.
